Ahh, sad news for gamers on the west coast

GenCon SoCal Throws In the Towel

I've never been, so no big deal to me, but I think a few friends had started making a habit of it. So whatcha gonna do instead?

A couple of us went for the first time last year. It was pretty dead as far as game conventions go, so it didn't really surprise me to learn they were shutting their doors. And really, there are so many good local cons (Strategicon in particular, although I haven't gone in ages) that we don't need a GenCon. Besides, we have Comic Con, which covers most of the same ground as GenCon plus comics and other genre fanboy stuff.
Yeah well, I don't exactly have time for any of it, but like banks and phone companies it kinda sucks when one more vanishes leaving fewer choices overall.
My solution? Dragon Con. That's the real gem.
