Not quite dead

... but alas soon.

Spamalot to close on Broadway in 2009. And in London as well. And has already closed in Vegas.

Perhaps we should blame the slumping economy, or else Clay Aiken just wasn't the right man to play Arthur. While I am not and never will be a fan of musicals in general, I did quite enjoy the chance to see this fine production in New York on my very rare vacations. To those few fine folk who had the chance to see it in its original glory, congratulations to us. I will never get how a show about cats can go on for decades and good bawdy humor doesn't even make the five year mark. For those of you that haven't seen it yet, and care to, keep an eye out for the Tour coming to town.

Clay Aiken didn't play Arthur, and for the record, he plays a brilliant and hilarious Sir Robin/Tower Guard/Swamp Castle Guard/Brother Maynard. Don't miss him on Broadway if you get a chance to go.

Shoulda known that

Obviously I skimped the article and the picture, which gives away his main character. I did already see it on Broadway, at the end of '05 I think, one of my rare major vacations. We were lucky enough to go on Lisa's birthday in Dec, and by total chance hit a window of about a week and a half when the entire original cast was performing, as one had just returned and one was about to leave. So it was Tim Curry, Hank Azaria, David Hyde Pierce and Sara Ramirez. Sometimes you just get lucky, now if only the seating wasn't so squished, that was the suck.

Re: Shoulda known that

I can think of only a handful of people who might be allowed to call me that, and as far as I know none of them are in the Portland area right now.
